Our Purpose

In a day when so much emphasis has been placed on the future, often times our heritage and vast amounts of American history have become things of the past. The purpose of Heritage Keepers of America, through it's educational materials and programs is to inform grade school, middle school and high school students the importance of knowing their own individual heritage as well as their local, state and national heritage.

The Heritage Keeper of America materials in no way or form are to be considered a replacement or alternative for a school's curriculum.   Our studies and programs are designed to compliment the curriculum a school already has in place.

As a student's awareness and acquired knowledge about history and heritage increases, his desire to participate in preservation activities will also increase.   Heritage preservation activities such as family tree research, historical marker and monument placement, historical landmark restoration and historical celebrity recognition will be encouraged.  The outgrowth of knowledge should assure that future generations will understand the importance of heritage preservation.

1.  Oral Presentation:   A Heritage Keepers of America  representative will visit in the classroom or before an assembly to address the students in the public schools of Tennessee and surrounding states on the subject of heritage preservation. Associated topics on family lineage and how our family tree is rooted into American history will be the primary subject.  Other topics such as how local personalities, locations and/or events fit into the scheme of state and national history will be explored on a secondary basis.  No less emphasis though will be placed on this subject.  In closing, the importance of preserving heritage treasures will be emphasized.

3.  Print or Electronic Media:  A Heritage Keepers of America  representative will distribute print material on the subjects of family lineage research and the significance of knowing how local history fits into the fabric of state and national history.  Preservation methods and activities will also be listed in the publications.
Audio and video presentations will also be utilized to further educate the students on the importance of heritage preservation and the consequences of inaction.
